Ecocem Ireland is an independent, specialist producer of GGBS cement (GGBS is an acronym for Ground Granulated Blastfurnace Slag). Ecocem’s cement is the most sustainable building material in the world and features a range of environmental, technical and architectural benefits when compared to traditional “Portland” cement.
Its facilities in Ireland and Holland can produce approximately 350,000 tonnes of GGBS cement annually. A new facility in Fos in the south of France will open in late 2009 and will have the capacity to produce over 700,000 tonnes of GGBS every year.
Its corporate website – www.ecocem.ie - plays a key role in communicating its message to a diverse set of customers.
When Ecocem approached Xwerx to redesign its corporate website, the company was looking for a solution that would convey the unique qualities of its product with style and purpose. We worked closely with them to filter their key messages, developing a Flash-based multimedia piece for the website’s homepage that provides the executive level overview of their product. Video testimonials by existing clients, coupled with visually arresting animations, tell the Ecocem story in less than two minutes.
Beyond the homepage, the website presents a wide range of technical information, geared towards the engineers and architects ordering Ecocem cement for their projects. An interactive calculator was built to allow users to measure the environmental benefits of specifying Ecocem cement.
The details submitted through the Technical Manual order form are available via our CRM product, Touchpoint. This allows Ecocem staff to follow up on potential sales opportunities, increasing the value of the website substantially.
Cement, on the face of it, might not strike you as the most interesting topic. Ecocem cement, however, due to its superior quality and environmental credentials, is a different matter. The website has a deliberate gallery style to it and showcases the product in a very positive light. Different audience types are all catered for – from the casual visitor hoping to better understand the product’s benefits to the engineer looking for technical specifications.
